Review: 1985 by Black Dog Moon

Black Dog Moon continue to prove they are not just chasing nostalgia - they are creating songs that remind us why we fell in love with big, emotional rock music in the first place.

Next up, we are genuinely honoured to have the latest single from one of our absolute favourite bands, Black Dog Moon.

Their brand new single lands on 19th May and honestly, it does not disappoint.

This track is everything we love about Black Dog Moon condensed into under four minutes. Emotionally charged, uplifting and bursting with energy, it is one of those songs that instantly transports you back to better times with a huge smile on your face.

There is definitely an 80’s heartbeat running through the track, but Black Dog Moon never simply imitate the past. Instead, they take those nostalgic influences and inject them with their own modern identity and swagger. The result is a song that feels timeless rather than retro.

The chorus is absolutely massive. The kind of soaring, uplifting chorus designed to be screamed back at the band by packed-out crowds with arms around each other and drinks in the air.

And that is exactly what Black Dog Moon do so brilliantly.

Feel-good, upbeat rock music with genuine heart and modern energy.

The vocals absolutely soar throughout the song, carrying the emotion perfectly while the huge 80’s-inspired guitar solo adds another layer of pure joy to the track. It is unapologetically big, melodic and fun in all the right ways.

We were also lucky enough to get an early look at the accompanying music video and trust us, it is every bit as brilliant as the song itself. We will not spoil it, but let’s just say the boys take on an iconic 80’s movie classic and the results are hilarious, clever and ridiculously entertaining.

Everything about this release feels like a band completely comfortable in their own skin and delivering exactly the kind of music they were born to make.

The new single drops on 19th May and we strongly recommend you get it straight into your playlists the second it lands.
