Albert’s latest album Crowned Julez kicks off with “The Journey” - and what an introduction it is. The track opens with a haunting, reverb-soaked vocal that nods respectfully to the late David Bowie before twisting into something entirely unexpected. Electro drums pulse beneath a soaring melody, and just as you think you’ve got Albert figured out, a distorted guitar cuts through the mix.

This is a band that thrives on the unpredictable. “The Journey” lurches from ethereal ambience to industrial grit, then lifts into a heartfelt ballad that somehow ties all the chaos together. It’s a rollercoaster of moods and textures - a genre-defying trip that shouldn’t work on paper, yet absolutely does. You know when a band says “we’re really different”? Albert mean it. “The Journey” backs that claim all the way - bold, cinematic and endlessly inventive.

The follow-up track, “Bring Me Down” (which comes with a great accompanying video worth checking out on YouTube), is a far more straightforward rocker - but no less powerful. It bursts out of the gate with a defiant, passionate chorus that sticks instantly, complete with a chant section built for live crowds. The energy is infectious, the delivery full of conviction, and just when you think it’s done, Albert drop an epic, soaring guitar solo that’s both technically brilliant and emotionally charged - a finale that elevates the entire song.

Together, “The Journey” and “Bring Me Down” showcase the two sides of Albert: experimental innovators unafraid to take risks, and a tight, passionate rock band that can still deliver a classic, heart-pounding anthem when they choose to.
