Review - Banned in G.B.G

There’s no compromise here – just power, precision, and purpose – and it feels exactly like the kind of sound that belongs in 2026.

Up next is Banned in G.B.G with their driven, grinding metallic delight I Close My Eyes, and this one absolutely rips from the off. The track bursts into life with crunching guitars, immediately lifted by a clean, soaring lead that cuts through the heaviness perfectly. When the vocal arrives – gravel-laden but packed with melody – it lands with a hook that Phil Anselmo would kill for these days. Brutal and tuneful in equal measure, it’s a combination that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go.

And yes… the double kick. Anyone who reads our reviews knows we’re absolute suckers for it, and Banned in G.B.G deploy it to devastating effect here. In a scene often clogged with metal-by-numbers, this band stand tall thanks to clever layering, sharp tempo changes, and a real sense of control. The song never just pummels for the sake of it – it pulls you along, keeps you locked in, and rewards repeat listens.

This is crossover metal done right. Heavy enough to make your right foot press a little harder on the accelerator, but melodic and inspired enough to leave you humming the hook for days afterwards. There’s no compromise here – just power, precision, and purpose – and it feels exactly like the kind of sound that belongs in 2026.

And that outro… let’s just say closing your eyes is optional, but banging your head is not.
