Dream-pop outfit Distorted Model from Essex have quietly been building a loyal following, and with good reason. The five-piece blend lush textures and heartfelt songwriting that channels influences like Slowdive, Wolf Alice, The Sundays and Alvvays, all while carving a distinct sound of their own.

The first track, “For You,” is a winding lament that drifts between melancholy and hope. The chorus lifts beautifully — an upbeat chord progression countered by an introspective vocal that delivers a powerful emotional contrast. There’s an almost dream-state-like guitar solo that mirrors the vocal line perfectly, floating through the mix with ethereal grace. The lyrics are poetic and sincere, capturing the kind of quiet heartbreak that lingers long after the song ends.

The second track, “Some Things Are Meant to Be,” flips the tone with an instantly lighter, summer-ready feel. The female vocal takes centre stage, carrying an uplifting chorus that soars effortlessly. It’s light, airy, and heartfelt, showcasing the band’s ability to shift from introspection to optimism without losing authenticity. The result is a track that feels both breezy and emotionally grounded — a perfect showcase of Distorted Model’s range.

With new material on the way and a growing presence on the London live circuit, Distorted Model are clearly on the rise. “Serene” captures the essence of their sound — emotive, atmospheric, and quietly confident — the kind of music that draws you in deeper with every listen. With a new EP on its way, the future looks pretty distorted!
