Goldfish Don’t Bounce – “Poor Boy”
Bolton’s alt-rock renegades Goldfish Don’t Bounce are back with a splash - and their latest single “Poor Boy” proves exactly why they’ve already racked up nearly a million Spotify streams. With their trademark genre-bending swagger and cheeky charm (think Chorley FM meets Camden dive bar), the band deliver a track that’s equal parts sunshine, grit and pure groove.
From the first beat, “Poor Boy” oozes confidence. The rhythm section swaggers and sways, driving the song forward with a funky undercurrent that feels effortlessly cool. The guitar work shimmers, balancing summery brightness with garage-rock bite, while the vocal performance steals the show - powerful, expressive and raw in all the right ways. There’s no pretence here, just pure authenticity and attitude you can’t fake.
The chorus hits hard, bursting open with energy and emotion, and just when you think you’ve caught your breath, the band hit you with a middle eight that’s downright massive - pulling you deep into the groove before erupting into a final chorus that practically demands audience participation. By the end, you’ll be nodding, singing, maybe even dancing - resistance is futile.
Fun, funky and wildly original, “Poor Boy” is everything you want from a modern alt-rock anthem - addictive, alive and full of character.
Goldfish Don’t Bounce prove once again that while they might not bounce — they sure know how to make waves.
