here are band names that raise an eyebrow - and then there are band names that demand your attention. Scotland’s three-piece Hot Blooded Reptiles fall firmly into the latter category

Their new single “Fallen Angels” does not ease you in. It crashes through the door like Motörhead jamming with Sex Pistols mid-explosion. It is raw, urgent and gloriously untamed - yet crucially, it is never predictable.

The vocal is what truly elevates the track. Instead of following the expected punk snarl or straight-ahead hard rock delivery, it soars. There is a faint gothic tint to it - epic, slightly theatrical, but never overcooked. It adds dimension rather than simply riding on top of the chaos.

Yes, the quiet-loud dynamic is there, but it has been twisted into something more unconventional. The chorus lands with the scale of Queen, but keeps a darker swagger beneath the surface. It feels bold, loud and unapologetic.

The solo is another highlight. Strong, emotive and purposeful, it actually pushes the song forward - something surprisingly rare in modern rock. And the outro? Pure arena-sized energy. You will be hitting repeat before the last note fades.

Clearly impressed, we ventured further having only intended to review the latest single.

“I Know What You’ve Been Running From” barrels in like a freight train. Yet the verse is almost angelic in contrast - a beautifully controlled moment before the full band crashes back in with a driving, forceful chorus.

This is where Hot Blooded Reptiles really show their identity. They marry ethereal vocal tones with low-down, dirty rock riffs. The contrast should not work. But it absolutely does.

The track feels more frantic and tightly wound than “Fallen Angels”, yet it is held together by layered vocals that give the chaos structure. It is controlled aggression - never messy, always intentional.

Then comes “Temptations.”

A driven bassline lays the foundation before the band pile in with conviction. The vocal here leans harder into passion and grit, while the drum accents inject real punch into the arrangement.

And the chorus? Relentless. By the second round you will be chanting “Temptation, Temptation” whether you meant to or not.

Hot Blooded Reptiles are fearless in their approach. They blend genres without hesitation - punk energy, classic rock scale, gothic textures and modern bite. It would be easy for that mix to collapse under its own ambition. Instead, it forms something distinctive and powerful.

This is not paint-by-numbers rock. It is bold, confident and refreshingly unpredictable.

Make no mistake, this band are absolutely on fire.
