Taylor D – “Strange Addiction”

Dublin’s own Taylor D is fast becoming one of the most exciting voices in modern rock - and with her latest single “Strange Addiction,” she’s proven why. The track shot straight to No.1 on the iTunes Rock charts and No.3 overall in Ireland, earning spins from BBC Introducing before its official release. It’s a huge achievement and once you hear the song, it’s easy to understand why - this is bold, dark and utterly magnetic rock songwriting.

From the first note, that dread-filled riff hits like a warning siren - thick, menacing and full of weight. It’s the kind of tone Tony Iommi himself would grin at, setting the mood perfectly for what follows. The sound grows and builds, layering tension with each bar until the song bursts open with an epic, arena-ready energy that must sound monumental live.

Taylor’s sweet but commanding vocal cuts beautifully through the storm, creating a stunning contrast against the grit of the music. The lyrics are dark and reflective, exploring the pull of something toxic with both vulnerability and defiance. The two-tiered chorus builds and builds - melodic, powerful and impossible not to move to.

The guitar work is sublime, wailing and weeping in all the right places, never overplayed but always expressive. Taylor clearly understands how to structure and pace a song - when to rise, when to breathe and when to let it all go. The solo that climbs into the final chorus is a highlight - adding emotion, chaos and depth in equal measure before everything crashes into a soaring finale.

“Strange Addiction” is more than just a hit single - it’s a statement from an artist who’s fearless in her craft. With power, precision and passion Taylor D has turned temptation into triumph - and this is one addiction you won’t want to kick.
