Next up are indie-pop fusion experts – Wild Horse and their latest single “Keep on Moving Up”
“Keep on Moving Up” juxtaposes a light indie flair with quite a serious lyrical theme but wow does it work! The song hits like the first day of summer and has a chorus that is so immediate by the time it comes around again you will be singing along. This is a great blend of indie, 60’s pop and a little funk. The track flows effortlessly with plenty of ideas and levels to the song to be a great listen, even on the 15th time you hear it (yep, we played it that many times here). This is a great pop song that blends a lot of styles together to make something totally unique.
As we loved this track so much we thought we would have a delve into Wild Horse’s back catalogue and we are glad we did as we discovered a couple of gems that are now on the Band Assist HQ playlist.
“Joy Ride” is a great, slow burn track with an incredible vocal. This song would not be out of place on 70’s radio. It is so much more, it’s one of those songs that genuinely makes you smile and lifts you up. The understated funk guitar adds depth to the sound whilst the use of stops and silence really allows this track to breathe. This is another great pop gem that by all rights should be on national radio this summer so we can all enjoy it.
“Fire” is a great slice of pop mixed with some unique ideas that make the song really memorable. The “chant-along” chorus is delivered with such finesse that it will be an ear worm for days to come. This time the band borrows from 80’s pop but skews it into something new and vital
